train your mindset

A few days ago I shared on my story some tips I use to stay in a positive mindset (and no this is not toxic positivity vibes this is optimal mindset survival vibes lol). Like I said, it’s v difficult for me to naturally be in a state of “yes!!!” — I’m constantly trying to get better.

Here are some instances and practices I put into place to be in a better mental space throughout my day.

  • When I start to let my mind go .. I mean really GO, I try to come back to my purpose. Whether you believe in God or not, I believe everyone has a purpose. And it does take time to figure out what yours is. In other words.. I try to reframe my thoughts by asking myself “Is this serving my purpose?” “Is this aligned with my values?” Often times (if not always) negative thoughts I’m thinking aren’t aligned with who I was born to be. For example —I know I have purpose in helping people/women navigate life in a healthier way through movement etc, but when I question that or doubt myself because x/y/z happened..my thoughts are not serving my purpose.

  • For every negative thought I have, I replace it with 2 positive thoughts. Body image is a good example of this. If I’m having an off day, I try to either say or write down 2 positive things about my body.

  • I pay attention to what I’m listening to. On days where my anxiety is high or I’m feeling high stress I put on binaural beats or research different HZ that help relaxation. You can read more about that here.

  • I journal. WOW. GROUNDBREAKING. But seriously, if you don’t - you need to start. Once you start writing down what’s stressing you out on paper it becomes more manageable. If you want to BE more positive, make your journal posts more “manifest-y.” Write down who you want to be in present tense. For example “I am loving. I am positive” etc etc.

  • WHEN I WAKE UP: I listen to something positive at the start of my day. This is sometimes a business podcast (blog post coming soon on my fav pods) while I’m getting ready for work or for the gym and sometime it’s a new song that makes me wanna GET LOW. HAHA. But actually. I also started to create playlists based on songs that make me want to sing (very very badly smh) and drive 10MPH over the speed limit. Not that I would EVER.

  • Curating your IG feed / Tiktok to reflect things that will make you happy. Try to follow more accounts with positive quotes and things that uplift you (or style blogs that make you feel inspired and spicy OK). Your phone literally hears you and will show you content that reflects your mindset etc.

  • BEFORE BED: I really have been trying to avoid murder + serial killer shit…LOL. As much as I love a true crime doc I have been intentionally consuming content that won’t make me stressed before I sleep. Sometimes I watch Housewives (lmao) or watch Tiktok for some laughs. There is always a candle lit and I use my new pillow spray so I can get my mind in the right space before I sleep !

  • MOVEMENT! Exercise has so many positive effects on mood, the brain, etc etc. One of my future blog posts will be on exercise x the brain. Once you start exercising regularly, you will literally be able to feel your mood change based on if you’ve moved or not. Movement is probably one of, if not THE most important factor to improving your mindset!
